about
MEDRINE
A multi-hyphenate creative with over 15 years of media experience in Kenya and the US, driven by the synergy between research and storytelling. From radio to television and digital projects, I’ve collaborated on diverse projects. Today, I channel my industry experience into teaching, where I support emerging storytellers while researching new storytelling techniques and technologies.
Writer
Writing has been the foundation of my work. I had the opportunity to contribute to a top lifestyle blog in Kenya, got nominated in the best creative blog in Kenya and commissioned advertisement work. My most recent writing projects were interactive video experience projects produced under the GRID Lab and the MFA program at Ohio University.
Multimedia Producer
The first person to affirm my creative abilities was a primary school headteacher. He pushed for me to write skits with him and work with my classmates to bring them to life. In my journey as a writer, media producer and professor I have worked on projects for commercial clients, research projects and passion pursuits including the ‘A Few Things’ (linked to the podcast page) podcast. I am currently producing a research podcast capturing the stories of how international graduate students experience the American higher education system.
Professor
Currently in my 5th year of teaching at the college level, I have worked with some of the best collaborators who have taken my classes. I teach digital media classes with a focus on developing media technologies including Ai as a tool to supplement the human creator. In my time, I have led multimedia production and digital media production classes. As a professor, I also created the very first podcasting class at Saint Louis University and am currently teaching the inaugural interactive video class at the same institution.
